English-speaking fans of War of the Visions: FFBE have had reason to anticipate this Persona 5 Royal collaboration, since the Japanese version of the game got the crossover a few months ago. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to hear that the English version of the game is finally getting access to these Persona-inspired features. As another blockbuster JRPG franchise, it’s no surprise that Persona is working together with Final Fantasy in this way, but the event is exciting nonetheless. War of the Visions fans can look forward to quite a few noteworthy features referencing the events of Persona 5 Royal.

The Persona 5 Royal Crossover’s Contents

As is often the case with War of the Visions: FFBE updates, the Persona 5 Royal event contains several bonus playable characters. The Persona 5 protagonist Joker joins the game, wielding his starting Persona Arsene. Players will also be able to obtain Makoto Niijima, also known as Queen, the Nuclear-damage dealing brain of the Phantom Thieves. While both of these characters are part of the original Persona 5, the crossover also notably includes Kasumi Yoshizawa, Persona 5 Royal’s new addition to the Phantom Thieves, also known as Violet. All three Phantom Thieves are Ultra Rare units with a unit cost of 90; Joker’s element is Dark, Queen’s is Lightning, and Violet’s is Light.

Aside from these new characters, War of the Visions: FFBE fans can look forward to missions that take them to certain sections of Persona 5’s Metaverse where players will battle some Persona 5 Royal bosses. These Metaverse Fragments include an encounter with Shadow Kamoshida, Shadow Kaneshiro, and Shadow Sae in their respective Palaces. Even War of the Visions: FFBE fans unfamiliar with the Persona franchise will want to check out these missions, since each Persona 5 has a strong aesthetic that inspires a range of unique mechanics.

War of the Visions: FFBE’s Persona Bonuses

Although the crossover lasts until May 31st after starting on April 27th, fans should look into the Persona 5 Royal event sooner rather than later. Logging in daily during the event can earn fans all kinds of special bonuses, including a free Queen and unit shards for all three of the incoming Phantom Thieves. Between these bonuses and the event’s many other features, the War of the Visions: FFBE crossover seems like ideal for Persona fans and non-fans alike. It’s a shame that not all the Phantom Thieves will join War of the Visions, but considering just how many Phantom Thieves there are, that would’ve been a tall task.

Persona 5 Royal’s collaboration with War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius goes to show just how important Persona 5 has been for Atlus. Persona 5 earned the franchise a ton of major crossovers with other franchises like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and years after the original Persona 5 released, collaborations are still ongoing. Joker and the Phantom Thieves are more visible than ever, earning the franchise a ton of publicity ahead of Persona 6. That game might be years away, but in the meantime, Persona fans and other RPG lovers can still enjoy events like this new War of the Visions crossover.
