There are multiple endings in Persona 4 Golden, but getting more than half of these will default to a Game Over and reset the Protagonist a week back. As long as players are rescuing people from the TV before the next day it rains in-game, they’ll be on the right track. After saving the last victim, players must select the right answers to the IT’s questions if they want to avoid getting one of the bad endings. Those going for Golden’s True Ending will also need to spend time with Marie to unlock P4G-exclusive dungeon.

Identify the True Culprit

On 12/3, the Investigation Team will confront Namatame over Nanako’s kidnapping and death. After some dialogue, the Protagonist is given the option to let Namatame live, or throw him into the TV. If players have been paying attention to the clues up until this point, they’ll probably realize that Namatame isn’t the killer. In order to save Namatame, players will have to choose their answers carefully when speaking to Yosuke.

If done correctly, Yosuke will calm down, and the IT will analyze the situation. Not killing Namatame maxes out the Fool Arcana and unlocks the Judgement Arcana. It’s also revealed that Nanako has recovered, much to the IT’s relief.

On 12/5, the IT will go over what all the information they’ve gathered to identify the true culprit. The Protagonist will realize that the person who delivered the warning letter must have known exactly where he lived. When answering “The person who seems to be the most likely culprit is…”, select Tohru Adachi.

If players have reached Rank 8 of the Jester Arcana (Adachi’s Social Link), they’ll have the option to cover for Adachi. This will lead to the Accomplice Ending. Select Tell friends about Adachi to avoid this ending.

Completing Marie’s Social Link before 12/31 will unlock the Hollow Forest dungeon. It’s not necessary for the Protagonist to start a romance with her to get to Rank 10. If on time, the IT will go on a ski trip and be able to enter the Hollow Forest through a TV.

Marie’s addition to Persona 4 adds more background and lore to Izanagi and Izanami. It’s revealed Marie’s real identity is Kusumi-no-Okami, who is a part of Izanami that is responsible for the fog in Inaba. However, Marie’s addition just unlocks a new epilogue; P4G players can still miss the true, final boss of the game.

Unlock Yomotsu Hirasaka

On 3/20, the Protagonist will have the chance to talk to everyone with whom he has a Rank 10 Social Link before he leaves Inaba. After this, the player will be prompted to return home. Choose No, and fast-travel to Junes and inspect the elevator to go to the IT’s meeting spot. Ignore any prompts that insist the Protagonist should return home by selecting the following:

No. I’m not finished yet. Yes. There’s something missing.

A scene will play out where the IT realizes there’s still more behind the scenes after reading a letter from Adachi. It turns out there was someone who met both Adachi and Namatame upon their first visit to Inaba. Coincidentally, the Protagonist has met with this person too.

After Junes, go to the Velvet Room to get the Orb of Clarity key item. Then, visit the Riverbank and speak to Dojima and Nanako. Finally, go to the gas station in the South Shopping District and speak to the attendant. After speaking with them, they’ll reveal themselves as Izanami and the IT will be able to explore Yomotsu Hirasaka, the final dungeon of the game. Defeat Izanami, and the True Ending will be unlocked as well as the new epilogue if players remembered to do Marie’s Confidant.

Persona 4 Golden is available now on PSP and Steam. A PC, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass release is scheduled for 2023.
