Although there was some skepticism about how the game would do at first, it ended up being very well reviewed. Being on Xbox Game Pass gave Pentiment what it needed in order to get a wider audience. The gaming subscription service is helpful in giving lesser-known games a push into the spotlight that they deserve. As soon as gamers decide to pick up the game and give it a try, it’s quite easy to fall in love with it. It’s the attention to detail, which covers everything from Pentiment’s historical setting and the environment it creates to its humor and well-written dialogue, that helped the game rise to success.

The music that accompanies players throughout Obsidian Entertainment’s Pentiment is just as important as the beautiful artwork and the satisfying sound of ink being set onto parchment paper. Players will be happy to know that they can now listen to the game’s soundtrack just about anywhere they go since it’s been made available on streaming platforms such as iTunes and Spotify.
The announcement was made yesterday on the Xbox Wire website by Shyla Schofield, a Senior Communications Manager at Obsidian Entertainment. Players can stream Pentiment’s soundtrack on music media platforms, but they can also purchase it for themselves through Steam. This is a great way to feel like Andreas Maler again and travel back to the charming yet mysterious land of Tassing in Pentiment, with Rüdeger’s beautiful voice and Alexander and Kazimierz’s festive songs.
Benjamin Vierling was the painter responsible for the album’s cover art, which portrays the notorious Andreas Maler and certain elements that fans might recognize from the game. In the same blog post, it was also reported that a vinyl edition of the game’s soundtrack will be released at some point in 2023. Those interested in acquiring it should keep on the lookout for more information since it might sell out pretty quickly. The back of the vinyl will contain a painting of Our Lady of the Labyrinth, the same painting displayed in Father Thomas’ church, a crucial location in the story’s plot.
Pentiment is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
