The Peloton pause button is finally here to save the day. Here’s how it works.
How the Pause Button on Peloton Works
On the Peloton Bike and Bike+, you’ll be able to effectively pause on-demand classes. All you have to do is tap the screen and hold the pause button to confirm.
When you’re on pause, everything (except high-fives) will be temporarily frozen. This includes the class, your personal progress, and all the various metrics that mean so much to Peloton fans everywhere.
Once the interruption is over, you can quickly hop back on the bike, reconnect your headphones, and get back to your sweat session.
How the Pause Affects Your Peloton Leaderboard Stats
The Leaderboard is one of the key reasons why it has taken Peloton this long to implement the pause feature. An integral part of the Peloton experience, the Leaderboard ranks users against each other in a gamified way.
So, to keep things fair, pausing your Peloton class will make you instantly lose your Leaderboard ranking. In many ways, this is Peloton’s way of maintaining the integrity of rankings without ruining the experience for other users or those that just really need to catch their breath.
Thankfully, under the “Here Now” section, you can still work double time to be on top of the list when it’s ordered by total output. In addition, while the pause will be reflected on both the class scorecard and workout summary, it will not impact your ability to progress in these challenges. With this, you’ll still be able to hit your milestones.
Press Pause on Peloton
While Peloton prides itself on being an engaging home workout experience, there’s no doubt that there are moments that are worth the break.
Whether it’s being present for your loved ones or taking time to catch your breath, Peloton has finally given its users the option to take a pause.
