Evans sat out the Pelicans’ first exhibition with a right knee contusion. He appeared in games on Oct. 9 and Oct. 12, logging 24 minutes in each, but missed Saturday’s game against the Kings.
Evans’ injury comes at a bad time for New Orleans, which is also missing centers Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca. Guard Jrue Holiday will begin the season on a minutes limit.
Evans said a healthy Pelicans team is no different than the champion Warriors, but his goal of winning the 2015-16 championship seems a bit far-fetched right now.
